Description

Modeling Leadership Development Workshop, led by Mark Schober and Craig Buszka--BY INVITATION ONLY (participants chosen by the American Modeling Teachers Association)

DESCRIPTION:

  • The Modeling InstructionTM Leadership Workshop trains experienced Modeling Instruction teachers to lead workshops for other teachers. The Leadership workshop sharpens participants’ understanding of the Modeling philosophy and pedagogy as well as the features of curricula that support the Modeling philosophy. The workshop also develops participants’ skills with tools for leading adults while providing logistical tips and assistance for organizing, promoting, and running workshops, and managing ongoing support.

  • As school districts look for science teaching practices compatible with the NGSS, demand continues to grow for high quality teacher training and curriculum materials as provided by Modeling Instruction. Participation in the Modeling Instruction Leadership Workshop and leading workshops not only improves the skills of the teacher-leader, but also helps to improve science education overall.

Workshop is limited to 24 participants. Certificates of completion will be awarded.

This workshop will run for 1 full week (Mon., July 20, 2015 to Fri., July 24, 2015) in Manhattan, at Teachers College, Columbia University (Zankel Hall, 525 West 120 St., New York, NY). The workshop sessions are Mon. through Thurs., 9:00 am to 4:30 pm and Fri. 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, followed by an optional social hour.

Please read the FAQs section below carefully before registering for this workshop. There are also other workshops being conducted at the same location, including: Mechanics Modeling (July 20-Aug 7), Chemistry Modeling (July 20-Aug 7), and Middle School Science Modeling (July 13-31).
